February 12th, 2021 | A good long run
A tweet of mine did pretty well in the last few days. But no matter how many times it happens, it always stresses me out a little. Usually, the best remedy for this is a long run. No phone. No AirPods. No audiobooks. No music. No nothing. Slowly, while running, you start thinking and solving all of your problems. And while controlling your breath, you actually start getting high. The infamous "Runner's High". By the time you're back home, nothing matters anymore. The possibility of a snarky comment, a negative remark or even a new competitor seem too stupid to worry about. "Who gives a fuck. I have a warm house. A fridge full of food. My health. And my whole life in front of me." Unfortunately, I haven't been able to run these last few days. It has been snowing for a week straight here. The streets are far too slippery. Other types of exercise are always cool and welcome. But for stress? Nothing beats a good, long run.
