November 1, 2020 | Day 1

Today I woke up and wrote "Day 1" on my digital notebook.

The beginning of the month is day one again. I'm motivated and have a small feedback loop to analyze from the previous month.

I've set my goals for this month, and have already started going towards them.

Nothing crazy. Just keep doing marketing the way I'm doing, and trust my system. But also invest heavily in SEO.

As you'll read in my monthly update, you can't fuck around with your traffic if you are in the lead generation business. It's a medium to high churn business. So, I have to invest in systems that are stable and don't fluctuate as much as Twitter does.

For a long time, I thought it was my fault. My product is bad, or whatever.

But, I went deep into the literature. I studied many, many many lead generation businesses on IndieHackers and found that this is true for every single one of them. Many have worse churn than me.

I felt relieved, even though this means that I can never relax with my current MRR and there is no clear way of fixing this.

But, at least it's not my fault. I have to view it less emotionaly and more professionally.

Anyway, the point of this article is to talk about day one mentality. White belt mentality. Just write down some things you want to do and write "Day 1" on the top.

And start.

Even if we end up doing 1% of what we set out to do, we'll be very successful.

Inevitably, some things will stick.
