April 2nd, 2018 | TalentShare
So my next project after my stupid chrome extension MultiNewTab would be one of three: 1) TalentShare, a platform for transparent companies to share their top applicants 2) Remote Junior Club, a platform like dribbble.com but for remote junior developers. 3) One of some other ideas I have but are very raw and need further morphing. I decided to go with number 1. The idea came from a real case scenario. As I have written before, my goal is to go nomad in 2018, so either landing a remote tech job or making a basic living 500$/mo through a side project will do the job for me. A few months ago, I applied for a Remote Junior Full Stack Developer position at Product Hunt because…. well because of fucking course I wanted that job! It was the first job application I had ever sent in my life. To cut a long story short, I didn’t land the job but went through the interview and coding challenge phases and if the rejection email was true and not an email to make me feel better, I cracked the top 10. Then, PH’s CTO at the time, Andreas Klinger tweeted out that he went through 350+ junior remote developers and he would share a list of the top applicants he could not hire to companies that are interested in pre vetted applicants. The response was amazing! 75 companies reach out to him. He then came through to me through email and asked if I was ok with being added to the short list, of course I said yes. From that, 5 companies reached out to me asking me if I was interested in working for them and to arrange a Skype call for an interview. The bad thing? Not one of those companies were remote… They were companies that were either on site or offered remote possibilities in the future. As you can imagine, I felt like a hot shot then. My first job application and now they are begging for me. Let them beg, I want a remote position from the start only. So I turned down every single offer. The truth is that since then I haven’t even made it even to an interview again. :( So that was the inspiration for TalentShare. It helped me a lot, and also transparency is a beautiful movement that is currently on the rise. Also it is b2b and I think I can monetize this, so it ticks many of the boxes I wanted my next idea to. The bad thing is that I am not a founder of a transparent startup, meaning I am not my customer and also it is a platform, I really wanted my next product to be a service. Built the MVP in 8 days, it is my best work so far. The domain is talentshare.online.
