February 19th, 2020 | Automating stuff
Today I woke up at 04:30 AM. I wanted to put four uninterrupted hours into CyberLeads before work. Although it sounds extreme, keep in mind that I went to sleep at 08:00 PM. So I slept 8 hours, which is normal. I woke up and did what I talked about yesterday. Applied many filters to ensure the quality of the entries. Also, I played around with exporting CSVs, importing them to Google Sheets and automating many copy paste actions. Crazy, a loooooot of time is saved this way. Everything that can be automated is automated now. Of course you can start building scrappers and stuff like that but I don’t want to do that. Firstly, I don’t have the luxury of time, and secondly, I don’t like automating stuff too early. Maybe in the future when I’m certain of all the processes. What’s left for me to do manually is the hard work, populate fields and values that have to be searched for manually and are hard to find online, like CEO information, social profiles and emails. The spreadsheet magic I discovered today took up all my morning. It was the first time I used advanced features of Google Sheets and Airtable so it took some time. I can now see why they spreadsheets are probably the most used software tools in the world. They are powerful and flexible as fuck. So, to recap, although I am quite optimistic after seeing how many cells are populated without me having to manually copy and paste them, I still have not timed how long each entry takes. Before this, it took me about 8 minutes for each entry, having to fill all 15 cells per entry. Now I can even see this number falling down to 2-3 minutes. Hopefully. If that is the case, I can pump out about 20 entries per hour. For each month, there are thousands that raise money. Fuuuuucckkk…. We all know that we are always a lot more optimistic. Who knows, maybe it takes one minute per entry and I’m good. Or maybe it takes 5 minutes per entry and I’m fucked. We’ll know tomorrow.
