June 1st, 2025 | Launch recap
Today I launched my first book and it completely flopped. Even though I have 50K followers across Twitter/LinkedIn/YouTube/Email List. I know many of you would think that having an audience is everything and makes everything easy, but it's not true. Here are my raw thoughts and lessons, in the moment, off the top of my head: 📣 1. Having an audience is not everything. I have 40k followers on Twitter and got 1 upvote on Product Hunt. Lol. Could be momentum. Could be that the algo hates me now for being inactive. But it also could be that it doesn't matter how many followers you have. I got more engagement and boost when I had 2k followers. ⏳ 2. You are who you are right now. Just like in life. You are not your past. You are not your accomplishments. My book is about everything I've learned making $1M from my personal projects. Ok, that's cool. But who am I right now? Am I doing anything interesting? Food for thought for me. But I'm actually happy about this. 🚀 3. Launches can be are overrated. A launch can feel like a big deal. But in reality it's just one day. The real value of launching is validating your idea. And maybe getting some momentum and hype. But apart from that, even if it goes well, you still need to figure out distribution by yourself. Starting the following day. So not much changes. Keep going.
